We have released the MABP's recommendations to safely guide you once the beauty industry has been permitted to re-open.
Note: no plans have yet been approved by the State of Michigan as of today. We are waiting on approval of a plan that was submitted to the Governor by the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA). As soon as we have an approved plan, we will share it but this is a great resource for business owners wondering what changes they'll need to make. We wanted to share with you how this came to fruition and why we felt we should share what we have at this time even though only it's a draft at this point.
Tari Krupinski, VP of MABP worked by my side for weeks to make sure we had all the information needed to create this resource for members that would aid them in preparing to get back to work safely. We knew that we did not have the proper training or medical backgrounds to create a plan that we believe would help during this crisis. Instead, we reviewed over 29 plans throughout the world that we found pertaining to COVID-19 and going back to work. These included plans by Barbecide, Professional Beauty Association, US State Governors, and many more. We then compiled the information and organized it in a way we thought would be easiest for our industry. Once we had this finished we find out that LARA had a meeting scheduled to design the back-to-work plan for Michigan’s Governor. We gave them our plan to compare and take pieces from that they thought would work well for our state, they also used Ohio's plan for much of their information. LARA also released the draft to different departments and individuals for their feedback. While we wait for this to be finalized, we wanted to share our ideas with our members so that you have the necessary time to prepare your business before our industry reopens. We hope that this will be a resource to give your workplace ideas so you can best serve your clients/workers and prepare them for the new normal. MABP President Explains the Re-Open Guide
In this video, Kristan Sayers discusses the association's efforts to create a recommendation guide for our industry to finally re-open in the wake of COVID-19.
Kristan has been a platform artist now for 13 years of her 15-year career. She has launched cutting, formal styling, and color courses throughout the US and Canada, while running K Bella Hair Studio and Spa in Brighton, MI with a team of 26 ladies and an Apprenticeship Program.
