Michigan Residents: Click Here to Take Action Now!
The Michigan legislature has introduced Senate Bill 751. This bill, if passed, would allow cosmetology students with 350 or more hours under their belt to provide shampoo services in salons.
The benefits include:
- Directly benefits salons by increasing the number of clients receiving services, and the opportunity to evaluate the student as a potential new hire.
- Provides licensed stylists the flexibility to work with multiple clients and take breaks when needed.
- Students will gain hands-on experience to aid in future employment.
- The student is exposed to the reality of the work environment vs. the school environment.
SB 751 includes strict regulations to ensure the accountability of the student, the school, and the salon.
