Are you an apprentice during COVID-19?

If you are currently enrolled in an apprenticeship program through the State of Michigan during COVID-19 you may be wondering what is happening with your apprenticeship.

The Michigan Association of Beauty Professionals has contacted a representative at LARA and has received the following information:

As of May 1st, 2020 LARA provided the MABP with information that any apprentice enrolled in the apprenticeship program with the State of Michigan may continue with the program if their practitioner can provide Emergency Protocol Training. This means you would provide the state a written document of what your plan is and how you are still learning. You would do this virtually with your instructor. The practitioner should continue to submit monthly time reporting sheets as recorded. LARA did acknowledge that this is subject to change based on changes to governmental rules and regulations.

As the MABP continues to follow the guidelines set forth by LARA, we will issue updates as they become available.

Stay inspired, motivated, and practitioners, please continue to teach our apprentices.
