Don is the father of 3 wonderful children and happy husband to his wife, Amy. Don has built his career focusing on program development; enterprise growth; business start-up and operational improvement. He found his strengths in leading, developing, and motivating people. Don earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Administration from Central Michigan University and continued his studies with the Executive Leadership Institute at the University of Michigan. Before becoming the Chief Operating Officer of the Douglas J Companies, Don spent several years in healthcare administration, having served as CEO for the Spectrum Health Special Care Hospital; President and CEO of the Sparrow Specialty Hospital, Director of Senior Health – Sparrow Health System, and as a physician practice manager. In addition, Don worked as the Director of Finance for the Tri-County Office on Aging (Lansing) and spent 9 years as an Operations Manager in a manufacturing setting. Throughout his career, Don has been involved in various associations, boards, and committees, at the local, state, and national levels. Industry advocacy and involvement have always been a focus for Don, as he understands the need for reasoned and responsible voices. Don has been in the beauty and beauty education industry for 10 years.
